What’s your body shape? What should you wear? Part II

Yesterday, I was talking about body shapes and how to find the right type of clothing to complement it. Although a lot of people would love to have the curvy shape of the S type of body, there’s good in every single body shape. With the right kind of clothes, you can always downplay your weaknesses and emphasize the positive instead. Pretty much the kind of stuff that make-up artists’ do.  People with the H shape suffers from the lack of curves, which means that their shoulders and hips are pretty much in line with each other. These people, especially if they’re thin, tend to have difficulty finding clothes that make them look sexy or curvy. Compensate for the lack of curves with lots of bold prints, colors to add curves to your body! Experiment with all of them – I think belts are extremely useful to help women with the H body shape when it comes to making the waist look thinner. Jackets with gathers at the hem, A-line skirts, and bootleg pants or jeans are perfect for these women.  On to women with the A body shape. These women have narrow shoulders and broad hips which gives the impression that her hips are too wide, even when they’re not. These women need to find clothing that puts more into the top portion of their bodies to balance out the effect. What I would suggest is to use scarves and maybe gathers at the collar, or maybe even puffy sleeves. This adds a little bit more to the shoulders. If you’re not into fancy stuff and designs, what you can do is to wear something bright and colorful on top while leaving the bottom plain and not-attention-grabbing. Perhaps you can have details or accessories to the top, your neck, collar, lapels and such to bring attention to the top instead of the bottom.  Women with the P body shape have the overkill body – too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. These busty women’s top casts a gloomy shadow over their flat bottoms. The key is to leave the top as low-key as possible – simple necklines works best. The effort one makes should be concentrated on the hips. I would choose wide-legged pants or bootleg jeans if I were these women. As long as the pants or skirt brings attention away from the top, it works for me.  And finally, women with the E-shape. These women have wide waistline; sometimes wider than shoulders or hips. Generally speaking, women with the E body shape tend to have a very round appearance and can be a little bit chubby. These women can downplay their horizontal shape with thin vertical stripes clothing. These women can try, also, wearing V-shaped blouses to bring attention to their tops instead of the waistline. I think the flared or simple and straight skirts work best for women with the E body shape. If you feel a little daring, you can always give Capri pants with nice buttons as décor a try.
